The Bright Years

A tender, multigenerational story about family, addiction, forgiveness, and the secrets we carry. The Bright Years follows one family through years of love, loss, and complicated choices. Beautifully written and emotional, with characters that feel very real.
Wild Dark Shore

Set on a remote island near Antarctica, where a mysterious woman washes ashore and becomes tangled up with a father and his children. This was suspenseful, and full of questions about family, survival, and our changing world. My favorite of the month.
Heart the Lover
by Lily King

A beautiful story about love, friendship, and the ways that relationships remain long after they’ve changed or ended. Navigating young love, shifting choices, and the lasting impact of the connections the characters make keeps you emotionally invested cover to cover.
Three books, three very different stories, and Wild Dark Shore taking the top spot for August. Now, on to September’s stack.

The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
Thoughtful, heartfelt, and beautifully written. This story is a quiet reminder of the power of connection and the words we leave behind. I can see why this was the book of the year.
Theo of Golden by Allen Levi
Rich with heart, hope, and unforgettable characters, this one completely swept me away. I didn’t want it to end. I have thought about Theo every single day after I finished this one.
The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett
Clever, charming, and impossible to put down. It had just the right mix of mystery, humor, and heart. Little Meg will steal your heart and have you laughing out loud.
Three books.
Three five-star reads.
Three stories I’ll be recommending for a long time to come.
